Broadband users are not getting the advertised broadband speeds that they are paying for, this is according to a survey undertaken by telecoms regulator Ofcom. The survey shows that nearly one fifth of UK broadband customers on an eight Megabit per second (Mbps) connection actually receive less than 2Mbps.
“It’s very easy to go out and find out what the price of broadband is, but much more difficult to get a good understanding of what the observed speeds are likely to be,” said Ofcom chief executive Ed Richards.
It’s about time the telecoms industry regulator Ofcom takes some action. They should do more to stop this exploitation of consumers. Is it worth paying for those top broadband download packages then? After all you do not get the advertised broadband speed.

In a bid to oust its rival, Google, Microsoft has launched an online search engine. Microsoft Bing allows you to search in categories including news, images, maps and even videos. Microsoft says Bing is a ‘decision engine’.
But is Microsoft’s Bing going to be any better than Google or just another addition to the ever growing search engine market? There is a lot of advertising revenue potential in search marketing probably that’s why microsoft has decided to launch it’s own search engine.

At a time when most people worldwide have been celebrating the election victory of Barack Obama as the first black US President, criminals are taking advantage and using the people’s interest in Obama to steal their personal information.
Hackers are using the Barack Obama’s US election victory to steal information via emails.
These bogus emails with headlines like ‘Obama win preferred in world poll’ contain a link inviting Internet users to download a link to see a speech by Barack Obama. However these download links places a Trojan virus on the computer that could help steal a user’s personal information.
So, just be careful about some of the emails that you get. If your computer is already infected you will need to get some up-to-date antivirus software to clean up your computer.

How to take control of your child’s Internet activities and keep them safe!
It’s a dilemma for every parent. Technology has changed our lives, it has opened up so many opportunities for our kids to expand their knowledge base and with a lot of families now having broadband at home, kids now spend more time playing games, charting online and surfing the web. But with all these benefits there are risks and dangers associated with the Internet.
Do you know what your children are doing on the Internet and which websites they are visiting? Do you know the dangers they face on the Internet and how you can protect them?
Sometimes we don’t appreciate how big and serious something is until we get into trouble. Recently one of my friends had a shock of his life when he was called to his 11 year old son’s school. Can you imagine an eleven year old charting sex staff with an 11 year old girl? That’s not the staff for eleven year old kids, what has happened to this world? Well, that’s exactly what happened. If it was not for the girl’s family who knows what could have happened?
Luckily the girl’s family was clever enough or probably someone else had told them about a computer software(PC Tattletale) that can help you monitor what your kids do online. Myself I could not believe what he told me about the web charts, the kids are too young for that staff. But you can imagine how embarrassing such things from your child’s school. Which makes it even better to monitor you kid’s online activities to avoid such embarrassments. You can imagine how my friend wished he had got hold of Tattletale earlier.
As a parent of a young son myself, I’m glad I can learn from how other parents deal with difficult situations and hopefully that will help me as my son grows up.
Things like the Internet we can’t stop our kids from using, because they need it for their studies so the only way to protect them is with the help of such computer software like PC Tattletale. It is not a free software but for the work it will do for you I think it’s worth the price. If it can save you child from some of the abuses that have happened then it should be worth the price.
The Internet world is full of sex predators, there are a lot of dangers on the Internet that face our kids everyday. So, I think Tattletale is a great program for all parents who want to be in control of the activities that their kids do online.
It is a responsibility for every parent to protect our kids and to ensure they will have a great future. Get the software that give you control of what your kids are doing online. Visit PC Tattletale website and find out for yourself what other parents say about PC Tattletale and it’s available at a reasonable price.

Well, I guess probably that’s what Google wanted as well, for people to fall in love with Google Chrome. I have been using Google Chrome web browser for a day now and already I love the simplicity of it’s tabbed web browser. It’s neat and not overcrowded with buttons.
Downloading and installing Google Chrome was quick and easy. The transition to Google Chrome looks easy, I have noticed how it quickly my bookmarks showed up on my preferred right hand side of the browser window.
So far I’m loving Google Chrome, but since it’s still a Beta version I guess there maybe issues that users will pick-up but I’m sure that will only make Chrome better. As for the more technical issues, I will leave those to the Tech guys.
So, what’s your experience of Google Chrome so far? Feel free to leave your comments.

Internet search giant Google officially released a test version of it’s Internet browser called Chrome in a direct challenge to rival Microsoft. Google’s Chrome comes a few days after Microsoft released it’s own Internet Explorer 8 browser. The new Internet browser which Google says brings a “better Web experience” adds a new dimension to a market dominated by Microsoft’s Internet Explore.
Google Chrome will be free and is based on open-source software just like Mozilla’s FireFox.
Just like Microsoft, Google is offering “privacy mode” which enables you to search without living your virtual ‘footprints’. The test version is available for download in 100 countries. The Google Chrome beta version, currently only in a version for Windows XP and Windows Vista is available for download from Google’s search page.
I’m going to download it and give it a try. Are you going to try it or have you tried it yet?
Have your say.

Every computer connected to the Internet is vulnerable to fraud and hacking. Everyday new viruses are discovered, hackers are continuously working to vandalise your computer, Spyware and Adware infect your computer if you are not well protected.
This leaves us at the mess of the software industry, it can be very expensive to protect your computer.
The good thing is, it is possible to get professional quality Antivirus, and other software to protect your computer.
Criminals use viruses, worms and Trojans to bug your computer and hack into your personal details, steal your important information and in some cases leave your computer completely messed up. If you are unfortunate you will end up paying a lot of money to get it fixed.
Well, during the past few days some people I know have had their computers infected by malware and Trojan viruses. The unfortunate thing is more damage had been done already on the computers.
Just thought I could share with you how I protect my computer for free.
It is important to make sure your computer is fully protected. The following is some of the important software that I use on my computer AVG Antivirus, ZoneAlarm Firewall and Windows Defender, there are also other software that you can use to protect your own computer. It is also important to ensure that your software is up to date.
Antivirus and other computer protection software can be very expensive. But you can also get it for FREE and completely legal if you know where to go.
I use AVG Antivirus, it’s FREE and it works well for me. You can get it here, www.free.grisoft.com. I also use Zone Alarm firewall which you can also download free at download.com and it’s also free.
If you search around on the Internet you can also find other good and free software to protect your computer and save yourself money.
Feel free to add your suggestions, or any other software that you are using to protect your computer.

At the moment my Toshiba Laptop is still working fine, very fast and I enjoy working on it.
My home PC used to be very fast and reliable as well when it was new, until gradually it lost it’s speed which at first I couldn’t figure out why?
That time I realised that one of the problems was low memory (RAM) and increasing it from from a very low 512MB did the trick.
The other problem it seems is the the Windows Operating system, it seems to be vulnerable to viruses, spy ware and Registry errors.
I usually manage to solve my problems by looking for solutions on the Internet. Some of my friends have asked me for help to fix their computers. I’m not a technician but I have helped them where I can. I realise they come to me because I know more than them.
It is important to have proper security on your computer, at least your should have Antivirus, Firewall and Antispyware. There are other additional security features you can also use to protect your system. I use AVG Antivirus and Zone Alarm firewall which work perfectly fine for me.
However do you know many problems you maybe having with your computer lie in Windows Registry?
You can scan your computer for free, and here is a website which will show you if you have any problems with your Registry.
Free Registry Scan
If you find Registry problems, its advisable to get them fixed quickly with a Registry fixer before things get worse.
If you have other ideas that may help feel free to share by posting your comments.
Scan Your Registry Free
Hopefully that will save you future problems.
