You would think moving your blog from Blogger to WordPress will be an easy task. Well it’s time you think again.
I decided to move my blog from Blogger to WordPress, after reading about all the advantages of having your own domain name and a self hosted blog rather than using free services like blogger and wordpress.com.
There has been a bit of learning and research to be done, so the past two days have been a bit hectic. Getting severe tooth ache whilst trying to move my blog has not helped the situation either. Tooth ache is no joke I tell you.
The Journey from Blogger to WordPress:
1. First I needed a domain name, and I managed to get this for FREE with my BlueHost. I signed up with BlueHost and they gave me domain name netincomediary.com for free. That was a good deal I got.
2. I needed a better wordpress blog theme, and I got it from WooThemes. They have some of the best wordpress themes I have seen out there.
Installing wordpress was not a problem, BlueHost made that easy for me. But I had to quickly learn FTP, I couldn’t believe how simple that is. Using services like blogger make you think these things are difficult, but they are not.
The major issues have come in trying to customize my wordpress theme, making it look the way I want. It’s taking me time but I will get it done.
WordPress plugins, this is one of the reasons I moved to wordpress. There is more you can do with plugins to improve your blog than with blogger. But where d you start? I have found a few plugins I inted to use, but it’s still a learning curve.
In a few weeks time I guess I will be flying with wordpress, and enjoying the fruits of moving to wordpress.
Do you know of any wordpress plugins that can add value to my blog? Or any other ideas that can make my journey from blogger to wordpress easier? I welcome your suggestions.

Wow! Everyone is moving to WordPress. Congratulations on the move. You are going to enjoy enjoy WordPress a lot with everything that it has to offer. There are lots of things to learn but you will have fun doing it and in my opinion, it will be much better for your blog. As far as pluging go, all I can say is, it depends on what you want to do with your site – one other thing I would like to add plugin wise is, I have come across a couple that have ‘broken’ my sites so it is a good idea to keep track of them and see if they are doing anything to make the site go crazy.

Thanks Gerri, I saw the professional look of your blogs after you moved to wordpress and that got me on the journey to wrodpress. My problem with tooth ache has not helped my situation, I think I could have had less trouble if I was in good health.
Thanks again for the advice and inspiration.

On the other hand, it is good to observe that you and Gerri already know each other. Because both of you are from Zim, I was about to introduce you to each other.
