At some point we have all used energy-boosting sports drinks that give you that extra energy when exercising. But these energy-boosting sports drinks could make your teeth rot and fall out experts have warned.

High acid levels in the drinks can cause a condition known as ‘erosive tooth wear’. A study has found that the acid eats away the hard enamel coating and trickles into the tooth underneath, making it soften and weaken.

Dr Mark Wolff of New York University, told an international conference that this is the first time that citric acid in sports drinks has been linked to erosive tooth wear.
