Church leaders and MPs have attacked Google for allowing gambling firms to advertise on it’s website for the first time. Bookmakers and online casinos can now buy sponsored links on the search engine in Britain. Some of the problems cited are people getting addicted to gambling and the effect ths has on families. But is there anything wrong in gambling companies advertising on Google?
There are so many ways companies can advertise on the Internet. And I have seen so many affiliate programs for casino companies which anyone can find easy on the Internet. As more people look for opportunities to make money online, many more are joining affiliate marketing, which means even if gamblong companies do not use Google there are other advertisers willing to push their products to web surfers.
However it is also true many people do use Google and chances are these casinos and bookmakers will get more customers from search engine marketing.
Google said ads would be regulated and also carry links to gambling addiction sites. But isn’t it time people take responsibility for their actions and stop blamming someone else?
