What a show we got from the Chinese at the official opening of the 2008 Beijing Olympics games.
It was probably the most astonishing show I have ever seen. The Chinese put in a lot of effort and money (£20billion) to give us such a great show. Thousands of performers dressed in some incredible costumes, a great fireworks display combined to create an unforgettable spectacle.
In the run-up to the games, there was a lot of talk about the human rights issue in China and the amount of pollution. I remember a friend of mine telling me that the pollution is so bad that the relay team will be using glow sticks instead of the traditional button sticks.
But now it’s the times for the athletes to perform and entertain the world.
But after all this amazing display, I think London 2012 Olympic games organisers have a lot of work on their hands. Will they match the great work by the Chinese? This has been a question among Londoners ever since the opening ceremony came to an end.
“How the hell will London follow what Beijing has done”
