The Pain of Living in London

The government does not seem to be doing enough to combat gun and knife crime involving London teenagers. Or, is it something to do with the parents?

Whatever the reason, there is need for collected efforts to end these tragic killings.
As a parent, I think of my son growing up in such a city where these days, there is a victim of knife crime nearly everyday. Kids killing other kids…..what has happened to our society today?

So far 17 teenagers have been killed in London this year. My heart goes to the families of all the people who have been victims of crime in London.

Every time our kids walk out of the door, now we worry about whether they are going to have a safe day. Innocent lives are being lost, it’s time families educate their kids about the dangers of carrying knives and the consequences involved.

Parents need to engage their children, talk to them. With the pressure of balancing work and family commitments, many kids are not getting enough time from their families and they end up spending time outside. Sometimes you find kids outside very late at night.

I also believe along the way, the government took away the power of the parents to discipline their kids, which maybe a reason why there are a lot of problems with teenagers today.

But whatever the problems, something should be done to stop all these killings in our streets.

It’s a crime to smack your child here in New Zealand, so you’re right, the laws are making it harder for kids to be disciplined. I would hate for my child to start high school, even middle school with how some kids behave in these 1st world countries. Any who maybe its time we find some solutions/ideas

Hi Tondy…….I remember my mother used to smack me, I understand it was out of love and to give me a better future because it made me the person I am today.

Parents may want to do more, but with some of the laws parents are left powerless.

But like you said, it’s time to find solutions and stop this madness.
